I saw this sail on craigslist....is this legit? Any reason it would not have numbers? Also, can a 14 sail be rigged on a Hobie 16 mast? http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/bpo/5194208694.html |

Not made by Hobie Cat would be my guess. Class "H" logo is too large to be Hobie Factory Made. Head panel looks wrong. Too small for use on a Hobie 16. Especially if your boat has a CompTip. A sail head has to be fully hoisted and held locked-in my the halyard on a CompTip. Otherwise the sail can pull out of the plastic luff track. |

I don't think I have a CompTip. Also, wouldn't running a Hobie 14 sail be similar to a reefed 16 sail, as far as how high up you would run it on the mast? |

Ah ok, sorry to be a pain, I'm pretty sure I have an all aluminum hobie 16 mast, is there anyway I can double check? Is there a serial/part number somewhere? |

One piece of aluminum (all aluminum) or aluminum lower and fiberglass upper (CompTip). CompTips are black in color and have a seperate piece snapped-on for the luff track. Double sheaves in the head for the halyard. The aluminum mast has a large single sheave head. |
