Post subject:  Trapeze wire length

I've just bought a pair of trapeze wires but they seem too long. Can anyone tell me the correct or recommended length please ?

Mine are 14 ft 4in ... (measured between the ends of the wire, excluding the rope and other bits attached)
I assume he's given me lines for a Hobie 16 instead of a 14 ?

H16 wires are closer to 16 ft 10 in.

Your wires could have been built wrong. Or they might be for the Getaway. I'm just not sure and my book of knowledge is at work.

They could be very old wires? The original trap wires had a pigtail below the handle that extended about a foot or more below the handle. We used to (1970's) hook right into the wire via an oversized thimble. The current wires have a smaller thimble directly below the handle.

What Matt said... Cause 14' 4" does not seem to be a length for any of the current production Hobie trapwires.

If you've got access to a nicopress tool, it's not a big deal to shorten the wires. And short trap wires are fairly common because of broken trap handles.
