my battens from 2 sails (recently purchased boat)... look in god shape, but have the fine fiberglass slivers that are so bothersome! would a very light sanding help? ..... what about a applying a coating? also, they do not have luff endcaps ..... I would have thought that was needed? Thanks again! Derek |

There used to be a heat-shrink film/tubing product sold that went over the battens - not sure if it's still being made, but a light coating of polyester or epoxy resin will do the same thing. The luff caps (other than the small, square ones that come on new battens) are an upgrade - well worth the expense. |
