Post subject:  How to right a 14, Only 60kg
Any ideas on how to right it while only being 60kg? I am putting righting line over the other hull and leaning out all the way but can only get the mast to water level not out of it. I have heard of righting bags and poles but rather not spend money if there are other ideas.

Increase your cheeseburger intake?

Technique has a lot to do with it. You want to make sure you're releasing the mainsheet and traveler and you have the bows pointed into the wind. If the bows are turned off the wind, the wind and wave force will drive the mast under. Also make sure your body is laid out as flat as possible without actually being in the water. If you're wearing a trap harness, you can wrap the righting line around the hook to help take some of the load off your hands.

Otherwise, I would just get a righting bag/bucket. They're pretty inexpensive and will give you an extra 50 or so pounds to help get the boat pulled up.

Yeah, you don't need a fancy specialized righting bag. Just a big open bag with a long strap. You could probably make one from a grocery store tote bag.

All of the above.....and make darn sure there's no water/mud in the mast.

FWIW...My daughter is about your weight and can right her 14T. A few years ago, when she weighed a little less, I had her practicing in shallow water. She couldn't quite right it, but I could gently tug the back of her PFD, and up it came.

I found righting a H14 much harder than righting a H16 or H18 (I own all three), despite its lower weight.
With the H14 I am constantly having a hard time trying to keep fore and aft balance while pulling on the righting line.
After the mast exits the water, a medium sized wave is more than enough to make the very narrow bow or stern sink into the water and make the boat capsize again on either side.

ps: I weigh 70kg
Is there a technique any of you suggest?
