Hi All I have a Hobie one/holder14 monohull sailboat.
I don't know if this is the right forum area

She looks like this:

https://sailingtexas.com/201401/sholder14126.html

I have been thinking about adding an asymmetric spinnaker to the rig since I have the furling jib attachment and an extra halyard for a non furling jib. I have a space to add a bowsprit and space to add additional hardware/spinnaker pulley blocks.

I do not have a spinnaker chute or a sock so I was wondering if I make a square hole/compartment-hatch at the bow leading to the storage area, aft of the forestay, if it is at all possible to launch a spinnaker.

Kinda like this: http://jimslittleboat.blogspot.com/2014 ... chute.html

where there is a hole on the port side of the bow behind the forestay. Only for the hobie one 14 monohull the hatch would go to the storage compartment.

Wouldn't it be ok to be on a run, wing on wing, and then launch the spinnaker and then switch all the sails over to one side. Or maybe furl the jib, launch the spinnaker, and then unfurl the jib? Then to take the spinnaker down I would furl the jib on a run/broad reach and pull the spinnaker into the compartment

Any thoughts? I have never flown spinnaker and am eager to do so.

I was cleaning out a storage house, that had stuff left over from a Hobie dealership. I found a spinnaker kit, including the pole, that I don't know what it would be for if not a Holder 14, that I sold back then.

I don't remember there being a spinnaker kit for them, and don't remember ever ordering it, but that's been over 30 years ago.

I'm sure this is not an assymetrical though. Everything but the pole is still in the plastic bag it came in.

I also found a long fiberglass Holder daggerboard. I know it's too long for a Hawk, and also looks too long for a Holder 12. It's fiberglass, and I don't remember there being a glass dagger for the first few years of the Holder 14 before that boat was changed to a centerboard. I remember the wooden daggerboards were pretty long.

Hi joshagirgis

I also have a HobieOne14 and was hoping to add a spinnaker. Did you ever figure this out?

I found a pdf online for an old Hobie-supplied spinnaker kit for the Hobie Holder 14, but it's no longer available: https://media.hobie.com/item_attachment ... 001z52.pdf

My next move would be to try to re-create this kit from spare parts (and an appropriately sized sail if I can figure out what size that might be!)

Thank you!
