Post subject:  How to store Hobie 14 on dryland while I work on my trailer

Hello,
New Hobie owner here (1998 H14).
I need to do major trailer work (new axle, springs, etc) and I'd prefer not to try and do that with the Hobie on the trailer.
Would be great to put the boat in the water while I do the trailer work but not likely an option.

Question: Can anyone give me a suggestion on how I can get the boat off the trailer gracefully and store the boat on dry land (will be in my driveway) while I work on the trailer? For instance, can I rest it on some sort of padding and if so how much do you think I'd need to properly cushion it?

IF too difficult I can do the work with the boat on the trailer but would prefer not to.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

It can easily rest on a bit of cardboard or two 2x8x8s. Spaced a few feet apart.

Recommend you connect your trailer hitch to the car or have someone stand on the tongue while pulling the boat off the trailer. Otherwise the trailer has a tendency to roll around and the tongue will fly up in the air when all of the weight of the boat transfers to the rear rollers.

If you have a grassy area, just pull the boat off and sit it directly on the grass. If going on the driveway, throw some old carpet or cusions or anything relatively soft under the hulls. These boats are tough, so it doesn’t take much to protect them.
