Hello, I just bought a Hobie 14 Turbo with restored hulls that the previous owner claims is a 1990. The crossbars and pylons are black (original, not spray painted) , but the mast does not have a comptip. That's what I'm confused about. The sail I believe to be the original has the numbers 38968, and it is the tequila sunrise colors. Anyone know the era of that? Also I cannot confirm the hull identification number since the hulls were painted and refinished. (either that or it is a 70s boat that didn't have a ID number to begin with) Everything on the boat is in great condition and I should have it sailing by this weekend, but I still wanted to know a bit more about the boat. Thanks for any help. |

Tequila sunrise + no comptip => most likely late ‘70’s or very early ‘80’s. sm |

My '84 H14T is sail number 46003. Yours is going to be older than that. The sail pattern guide has the Tequila Sunrise patterns starting in '77/8. |

The sail number sounds late70's/ early 80's. My 82 14's original sail was 40392 (?). If the main has only 5 battens, that would indicate an older sail as well. I'd bet older boat converted to turbo ca. 1990. |
