I am trying to figure out a fair price to sell a Hobie 14' sailboat. Purchased a demo in '99 and has been in the water, maybe 15 times at best. Sails are practically new. Any ideas or resources? Also, has "Performance" trailer.[/b]

In April I bought a '92 H14 for $1,800 here in Michigan. The boat is in great shape. The mainsail is like new, and it came with a new, never-used jib (the old jib was in rough shape). The tramp is faded, but solid. The tramp lacings look bad, but are useable. Hulls are solid. Rigging and lines all in good shape. The boat was completely ready to use. I replaced the original skinny hiking stick which had been taped up because of fiberglass degradation with a sturdier, telescoping aluminum stick ($45).

Most of the work went into the galvanized trailer, which was also in great shape, but needed a mast support ($70). I also replaced the 8" wheels ($70) and the wheel bearings ($35), just to be on the safe side. I made and attached a sail tube out of 14" dia. galvanized duct (with additional hardware, about $55).

I'm very happy with the deal I got and the fun we've had with the boat so far.

When you decide on a price, place a posting on www.fleet204.com There are probably some people who would be interested.

cheers
