I have taken my 14 out just about everything, from no wind to 30 or so, and have never really flown a hull for a prolonged period. I have a standard, so no jib, but I have a dolphin striker and trap. I almost never get the opportunity to trap- am I doing something wrong? Easing the main to much? I just cant get it up there, and I only weigh 155lbs. Should I try to find a turbo rig? |

If you are really out in the winds you say you are out in you should have no trouble flying a hull. My very old 14 with blown out sails would start flying around 13-15 when I was alone. Now once the hull was up, it took me almost a year to learn how much mainsheet to dump balance and continue to fly a hull. Many times it is only inchs, 3-4 inchs of mainsheet is a big change in sail shape. Also center the traveler and you should be able to fly one easier. |

At 155lbs you should be easily flying a hull in anything over 15 if your traveler is centered and the main is sheeted in, unless your boat is incredibly over standard weight. |

Remember, my white 14 is 47lbs over weight and she'll fly a hull in any decent wind (depending on where I am sitting of course). Mork is right though, traveler close to center and sheet in and watch the bow. |
