I know that a standard goes straight downwind like a mono, but what about the turbo? Is tacking downwind faster? Thanks, Jon |

Tacking downwind with a jib is faster, yes. Uni-rig, even on a 17, seems to be faster going almost straight downwind. |

Depends some on the conditions too... If the winds are steady, it's easier to keep the laminar flow attached to the sail deep downwind. But a hole puts you into parachute mode, so then you either point straight down or head up to reattach flow. Brian C |
