Post subject: | Temporary batten luff cap? |
I would like to go sailing this weekend and can't get to hobie dealer to pick up batten caps. I'm transferring the battens from my old sail to my new pentex square head sail and need temporary batten luff caps (old battens didn't have caps). I was going to use electrical tape but thought I should check here first. What's the best temporary solution? Thanks. |

Didn't get a chance to sail, but taped the luff end of the battens with sail repair tape. The old battens had been sanded or filed down on the luff end and are starting to split. Almost time for new battens. Found more info: [End caps are not 100% necessary, but they do allow you to apply and release tension on the battens easily. The sail will strech out if you leave the batten tension on for an extended period of time (weeks).] MBounds Thanks Matt. Has anyone tried the liquid rope whipping that Murrays sells? |
