Post subject:  CAN - BC coast

We are planning a trip up to the coast of BC. There are thousands of islands up there and wondering if anyone has any suggestions on any hide-away place.

Thanks for sharing

There is a nice island off Comox/Courtenay BC on Vancouver island, Sandy Island Provincial Park but locally know as Tree island. It has a nice beach to "beach" on and the winds can be reasonable even in the summer when the doldrums arrive. You can launch from Union Bay and its generally a beam reach to get to the island.

You can come to Campbell River and sail the straight in 20+ knot winds. thats fun. Sometimes the Coast Guard even gets into the action.

Hats off to the Campbell River Auxillery Coast Guard for their quick response time (sub 20 minutes). I guess when you dump a sailboat in the straight in 20+ KN winds people get excited. No worries on our end, we were upright and sailing to the boat launch to fix the broken trapeze line when they showed. Next time we will break elusive the 20 KN barrier. We only got her up to 19.8KN
