Post subject: | MS - Where to sail on the MS Gulf Coast |
Hi, I am north Mississippi resident who has been sailing a Hobie 16 for two years. My sailing experience has only been on lakes. I would like to take my boat to the MS Gulf coast to get a feel for sailing on the ocean. I've visited the MS coast a few times, but have very little knowledge about sailing in the area. I had a few questions and was hoping someone could help me out. Where are some areas I can launch from? Is there a mast up beach area or marina where I can pay to keep the boat at? I would love to not have to step the mast every time I wanted to sail the boat. I was thinking about visiting the last week in July, and wanted to know if the weather was still good for sailing or would it be too stormy? |

Ocean Springs Yacht Club is the place to be!!! On Biloxi Bay Don't let the name scare you, as they are a Beach Catamaran club https://www.osyc.com/ |

Where are you sailing in north MS, jcm? We have a club on Barnett Reservoir in the Jackson area and sail on the Gulf Coast a lot. As flatlander wrote, OSYC is the place to be on the MS coast, although there are plenty of other places you can launch. PM me your contact info if you want, and I might can help with some other Deep South options. |
