The axle on my H16 trailer broke. The rest of the trailer is fine, including the hubs and tires. A new axle is $400+. This seems ridiculous. Has anyone made an axle? has anyone found one at a junk yard? Any other ideas?

I've definitely made axles before. You need a welder. Can you weld your old axle back together? Do you have Harbor Freight in Hawaii? Their trailers are less than $400 and you should be able to buy parts. Or, buy a cheap trailer off of craigslist/marketplace and scavenge the axle.

2,000 Lb axle from these guys is about $125 depending on the size you need. You would have to make sure the spindles match your hubs and may need to also get a U-bolt kit to mount to your springs.
