the bearing on our '84? 14' Hobiecat are breaking and keeping the traveler from moving smoothly. how do we get the lower roller unit out of the track to replace it? i'm hoping there is a ridiculously easy solution that i will be embarrassed about not figuring out myself, rather than pulling the whole track up! jft |

Drill a couple of rivets out at one end of the track. That will let the track bend up enough to get the lower unit out. Make sure to replace the rivets with counter-sunk ones (available at dealer or through one of the on-line places) - after you put the new lower unit in. Hobie sells a "lower unit replacement kit" that has the lower unit and the rivets. |

Short of ripping out of the track, are there any general symptoms that would indicate a traveler car is ready to be replaced? I think I might have the original one on my H16, and my boat is a 86....it seems to work ok, but the sound it makes is nasty when it travels out. That sort of metal-on-metal grind..lol. ![]() |
