Anybody separate the pylon from the hull glass while trying to remove the tramp corner castings on a 16? I've tried heat (propane) and hammering to no avail. All hardware has been removed from the tramp frame, including rivets, yet I cannot budge the corner castings. I'm ready to try hydraulics and or pnuematics to remove the corner castings, I just don't want to disturb the pylon/hull bond. I guess my question is; how much force will the pylon/hull bond withstand? |

Takes a significant blow to get them off. With a heavy (3 lb or more) "Dead Blow" mallet I swing just about has hard as I can. This is a sand filled head and has little re-coil from impact, so the force is best exerted on the casting. You could try a sledge hammer with a 2x4 against the casting. |

I've tried both direct blows on the casing and with a 2x4. Have you heard of anyone knocking the pylon loose from the hull by hammering on the corner castings? Like I said, I may try acetylene and hydraulics, I'm just trying to understand the strength of the pylon bond so I know what I can get away with. Thanks. |
