Post subject: | Hull delamination -how much is to much? |
Hi all, My dad recently bought an 18 ft. cat. The third time we took it out my crewman went to change sides on a tack and the side crumpled and stayed that way till I got it back home. inspecting the hulls it looks like the left outboard hull side is delaminated almost the entire hull and about 10" wide the other hull is delaminated maybe three ft. around the back of the tramp and the same up towards the front on both sides. when he first got the boat we noticed the bottom was bent in a little where it was sitting on the trailer roller but we flipped the boat over and left it for a few days and it mostly poped back out. it looks like the spot that crumpled in while sailing cracked the gel coat. we don't have much money in this boat and we can get back what we payed by selling for parts or trade in I think is it woth trying to fix this? besides the ripped tramp and a broken rudder blade everything else is in pretty good shape one more note, the previous owner had allready repaired several spots on top of the hull but there are still a few places to patch there as well thanks |
