Can someone point me to specifications for appropriate distance between the crossbars on a Hobie trailer? Is there a difference between the dimensions for a 16 vs. a 14? Does it matter if you substitute a round bar for the C channel? (I lost one over the winter to snow load - now I know another reason to take the tramp off - hard lessons for a newbie) |

On the trailer, I use 2"by 2" square tubing 1/8 thick (8'long)should be fine and stronger than "c" stamped metal. On my holsclaw trailer they are 7' apart. You can install your wiring inside the tubing to protect it,just drill a hole under the tubing within the trailer frame to keep from weakening the tubing. Also install a rubber grommet at this wiring hole to protect your wire at that pinch point. You may want to switch out the other channel just to match the new one.I like the tubing sitting on top of the trailer frame, not hanging from it.Use "u" bolts to secure your new tubing to trailer. Good luck,Bill 404 21 SE |

Thanks for the information. Do you have a 16? Do you think the 7' dimension would change for a 14? |
