I've just installed new cams but they don't rotate up into the casting the same: Should I correct this by filing away some of the irregularities in the casting on the right hand one (in pics) or leave it alone? I don't know how far the cam is supposed to rotate up. Thanks. |

The photos are awfully small, but the casting on the right has the correct position of the cam. The one on the left is installed incorrectly - it's rotated too far back. The plunger should seat against the detent on the bottom of the cam to keep it from rotating back too far. |

Actually, I haven't put in the plungers yet. Busy making my 3/4" by 10 thread chaser today. But now I know that when they're installed, the cams won't rotate up that far. Thought I'd better check before I screwed up. Learning as I go. Thanks for the quick response. Even found a Hobie kayak dealer in the next town over today, who's willing to put my parts orders together with his so I won't have to pay shipping. Made my day! |
