I HAVE A NEAT 12FT. CAT ALL GLASS I,AM BRINGING BACK FROM THE DEAD. BEEN MAKEING EVERYTHING FROM LOWES AND A FEW THINGS HOBIE .AND USED PARTS OFF MY HOBIE 16. MY QUESTION IS CAN I PUT GEL COAT OVER WOOD OR DO I HAVE TO GLASS IT FIRST . |

1) ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING. Turn the caps lock off, please. 2) No, you cannot gel coat right over wood - at least not with good, long lasting results. Even polyester resin isn't a good thing over wood. Epoxy is the only thing I'd use on wood, and gel coat doesn't like to stick to it either - at least without some significant surface preparation. |
