Post subject:  Hobie 16 hull repair - leaks and holes

I just bought my '79 Hobie 16. The bottom of the right hull had some damage to it; about a 2 foot area where some of the fiberglass had been scraped away and was soft. The seller patched it on the spot with some quick-cure epoxy. I took it out once, but it took on a small amount of water and the epoxy became pliable and lost cohesion.
Question:
Will I need to flip the cat to repair the area with fiberglass, or can I do it upside-down? Will fiberglass repair over the epoxy if I am unable to get it all out?

Thanks

Do a search for "Bottom Job" in the forums. You should remove as much or all of the epoxy as possible to be sure the new repair has a good bond. This will require laying up several layers of glass cloth, shaping again ansd sanding smooth.
