Hi. I have sprayed gelcoat before the traditional way, using mekp, parafin and styrene. There is a product called Duratec, its used at a 50/50 ratio will gelcoat to make it level better/less orange peel and reduce sanding buffing after spraying. The closest supplier to my location is minicraft in Florida, but the shipping may kill me! Is the extra expense of Durated additive worth it over the conventional gelcoat spraying technique? thanks! |

I don't do a repair without it. It helps the gel flow, hardens up much faster and makes it tougher. Easier to buff, shinier blah blah. It can make a so-so repair look great. Send me an email and I'll give you the scoop, I stock the stuff. It only comes in gallos though, and goes bad in about 6 months. Don't mix it 50/50. It will cover better 40/60, but depends on the color of te gel. No need to add styrene or anything else other than cat. |
