I am also suffering from the delamination problem in front of my forward pylons. I've bought the West System epoxy and filler and was wondering if anyone had done the repair as usual and then set weights on the top of the hull to squeeze the layers together and further distribute the epoxy. The weights would remain in place until after the epoxy was completely cured. I was thinking about using sandbags or paving stones as weights. I didn't know if there was a problem in doing this such as flattening the camber of the deck, etc. Thanks! |

I don't think it is a good idea. The weights could distort the deck while curing. After curing, it would remain that way. The original shape and structure will cause the inner and outer surfaces to compress the resins as they try to keep their original shape and position. Too much resin can force the layers apart (more likely the inner layer will be forced down) so inject the resins slowly. |
