Trampoline has torn as pictured and I need solution for repair. It's a OEM mesh tramp from '95 in otherwise great shape. Thanks.

I had a Hobie 16 tramp that tore very similar to yours. That tear is in a very high tension high stress area. Best bet is to either get a patch sewn in or replace the tramp. It looks like it has seen a lot of sun, it could be prone to ripping in other areas. IMHO once a tramp starts to rip, it's time to replace....

Unfortunately, it's not "in great shape", or else it wouldn't have torn. If you patch that area, it's just going to tear somewhere else.

It's almost 20 years old and has seen a lot of sun (evidenced by the white fibers peeking though everywhere). It has served it's time well - most aftermarket tramps don't last nearly that long.

It's time for a new trampoline.

Ah, I was afraid of that. As nice as the new OEM tramps are, a new one's not in the budget right now. I'll give the patch a go to see me thru the next 2 months. Anyone, know of a good gently used one refer it my way please. Thanks.

This guy has a used one for sale. shipping on a folded up tramp isn't very hard to do.

If you're in a pinch and just want to squeeze out a couple months you could loosen the tramp around that rip, put cloth tape under the rip covering the area 6" bigger in every direction then coat the area in epoxy making sure it penetrates the fibers. after 24hrs it'll be hard as a rock and shiny but should hold up for a while.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll try that with the tramp since I have material left over from a bottom job a few years back. I just bought a new OEM tramp for my 18 or I'd swing for a new one for the 16. Maybe next year if don't find a semi permanent solution.

Similar problem last year on our 1989 SX18.....
that area is a point of tension.

So we took out the sewing machine and zigzagged some patches on using UV thread.
Still holding up after an aggressive season of sailing....
however, I know that I am living on borrowed time......

John, what did you use for patches and source of uv thread? Btw, whatever happened to the red mesh tramps hobie made for the 2010 worlds? I'd buy one with no second thoughts.

A neighbour renovated their pool area, and got rid of their 'roll down' blind over the deck.
They had no idea that the fabric was Sunbrella.... so I recycled the fabric out of the garbage, and used a good part for my H18 jib snorkel, custom design - works like a charm. The patches were some cut off pieces. Wife and First Mate is in charge of the thread and sewing department.

Ask your local Aussie dealer for a red tramp..... or contact Hobie Australia... or better still, go there!

That would do it, cool and thanks for the idea. Btw, why Australia? 2010 worlds were in China w/ red tramps. 2014s in Australia with black tramps I thought. Either way, not happening lol.
