Duplicate in Wave section. I thought it might be more appropriate here. Hey folks, I happened to be moving the tiller crossbar off it's winter storage shelf last weekend and whatever made me do it, I gave an endcap a twist. Except that it didn't twist. Both ends are completely seized, probably from salt. I gave everything on the hull a good hose rinsing before storage and I do so a few times throughout the year but I could see salt getting up there where a rinse would have no effect. I do keep it down on my shore so it's a salty environment. I tried soaking an end in various fluids but I can not budge it. I'm going to try removing the screw on the end that is removable and try pulling it out but I'm doubtful I can do that if I can't even turn it. Any advice? I hate to give up but if I need to order a new one, I want to do it soon before sailing season hits. Thanks. |
