Post subject:  Mirage Drive smacking the hull

On my 2013 Oasis, the mirage drives are "clunking" as the pedals reach their most apart positions. I looked at the drive by itself and it appears that when the pedals are most apart, the turbo fins are noticably above the horizontal plane, thus causing the clunk when fin hits hull. On my new 2016 TI (which we love!!) the new version of mirage with the gray parts and ball bearings only appear to rotate up to the horizontal position, not above thereby not hitting the hull. Is there an adjustment to prevent the fins from going above the horizontal?? Thanks.

You can adjust the chains and tune the fins to come up less - or you can just adjust the crank arm forward one position in the drum and this will make you not take such a wide stroke.

This what i do so that mechanism is not hitting its limit. Last bit of travel does not add much power only slows down your stroke.

Tightening the fins to reduce "flapping" and increasing resistance will also reduce tendency to over stroke

Fins above horizontal when bungied up to help to prevent digging in on beaching
