Post subject: | Hobie Eclipse damaged |
Hi, we are located in Vienna/Austria and using Hobie Mirage Eclipse for rental and private. One of our guests bumped in a concrete block and broke the nose of the Hobie. The crack is about 2ins long and parts of the gelcoat are missing. Water flew into the composit. Prior to repair we have to wait till it's dry again. We lifted the stern of the Eclipse to have the water running out. Does the composit SOAK UP water because after 3 days water is still trickling out of the material? Any help welcome! Reg. flotus |

It could take weeks (to drain) depending on how much water got into the board. Did you use it after it was damaged? How did the water get into the board? The way to tell if the water is out of the board is by touch and weight. If the board seems heavy or is nose heavy more water needs to come out of the board. The foam doesn’t absorb water the water goes in between the beads so it will come out with gravity. Put the board nose or damage side down to help the water flow out of the board. I can e mail you directions for making repair. |
