I have a problem with a hobie 21. The holes in the crossbeams, through which the taper pins pass, have become large and corroded. The taper pins are rendered ineffective, which allows a lot of play between the hulls and the crossbeams. Any suggestions on a good fix for this will be much appreciated |

If you can get us some pictures I will try to help you out. What year is the boat? Thanks, Brad Stephens www.sunjammers.com<------New Site! Authorized Hobie/Vanguard Dealer Division 15 Chairman Panama City Beach, FL [email protected] 850-235-2281 |

I also had this issue, good old wear and tear. Check the inside diameter of the holes and have a machine shop turn some pins for you. Make sure you allow enough threads to tighten the taper pins. |

I have a '88 21SE and am familiar with the pins. I think having those pins made, especially from stainless would cost $500+. I would suggest cleaning out the holes and welding them back smaller then re-bore to the correct size. You will probably have to remove the sleeves to avoid heat damage but they are easy to rivet back on if you remove them carefully. |
