Post subject:  Bow tang screw fail

I need help. A friend has a 17' Hobie boat ( i know nothing about sailing boats) and asked if I could help with a repair. from the little research I've done, it appears that the bow tang fastening screw has pulled out (center front, left hull). There does not appear to be any aluminium block as mentioned in some posts I've read. It seems this could be fairly easily repaired with epoxy and either tapped appropriately?

I'd like to help her out, and do it right, so I am very appreciative of all input. I have pics I can share, but I do not know how to post those on this forum.
