Getting ready for the upcoming season and I noticed some cracks in the comptip. I've been doing some research online but thought I'd pick some brains here. Do you think this looks cosmetic rather than structural? How can I repair it to keep it from getting worse? I saw in some photos online that the black top layer is quite thick with the fiberglass beneath it. Would love your thoughts sailors! Probably just cosmetic, but one check would be to step the mast. Then hook the mainsheet up to the main halyard to simulate sailing loads. Flip the boat on it’s side and have one person tension and release the main sheet while another watches and listens to the comptip as it flexes to see if those cracks open up or make any unpleasant sounds. sm |
