Does anyone have experience usung aluminum ferrules to crimp/swag stainless cable? Do you actually get galvanic reaction? How long does it take until that is a problem? Any help? |

Hasn't anyone shortened lines? What have you used? Any problem with galvanic reactions? Do you do it yourself or who does it? I see aluminum ferrules everywhere but can't find any stainless -- where can I get some fast? (Going sailing in a week and still need to shorten my trap lines.) |

Check out annapolis performance sailing (aps-ltd.com). I'm pretty sure I've gotten stainless ferrules from them. sm |

http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d270000/e269202.asp If the address doesn't work, go to: Hardware>Wire and Wire Fittings>Thimbles, Nico, and Swage Fittings I've used aluminum on stainless wire before. It will hold, but you will probably get some corrosion evenutally. sm |

Thanks for the reply about using aluminum and it working. I'm going to use aluminum unless I come across some stainless sleeves in the next day or two. At that site I only saw zinc plated copper sleeves, they are not supposed to corrode as fast as aluminum but they are still not stainless; does that matter? I don't know. Thanks. |
