Post subject:  Old Getaway Forestay

I have a 2001 Getaway. I purchased a new forestay for it, but the length and connections at both ends of it are different than my old one. (The top end of my old one has a pigtail to connect the jib to; the new one didn't. The bottom connection in my old one is slotted; the new one isn't.) Is it still possible to purchase the old style & size forestay, and if so, how do I find the part number?
Thanks.
Troy

Sometime around 2002, Hobie changed the Get forestay upper swivel. If you tell your dealer that you need part# 37810001 Get forestay assy in conjunction with the part you have it should fix your problem.

Hi Matt,

I know this is an old post but I have a directly related but different question.

We just purchased a Getaway 2001 which has the upper forestay with two thimbles - the lower one permanently attached to the swivel.

Trouble is the pigtail is damaged.

If we buy a new version forestay what will we have to do in order to use it? Will we need to get an upper forestay added to it or is the new forestay usable?

I'm prepared to buy new bridle wires so if those changed length at the same time this change was made to accommodate a different length forestay then this will be fine for me.

Can I assume that the original jib will work with the new forestay?
