I recently purchased a Hobie bridle fly wind indicator for my Getaway. I would have preferred the more substantial Telo-cat, but was informed that an adapter is no longer available for the Getaway. If you go with the bridle fly, you'll need to also purchase the adapter to mount it to the Getaway's roller furling unit. The first time I used it, I accidentally lost the little teflon washers and the end cap into the lake (kids knocked the wind indicator apart). Anyone know if replacements are available? |

hey thanks - any ideas if these things are sturdy enough to handle a bow stuff or two (or seven)? |

The bridle fly doesn't seem strong enough to handle much abuse. In heavy waves/wind, I think I would leave it at home. |

Try nylon strands on the stays. I tie mine to those little tile cross spacers, they spin freely and never wrap around the stays like yarns or cassette tape. |

The replacement vane comes with a vane and two washers, but not the cap. The vanes are pretty durable, but really best for off the wind and moderate to light winds. I rely on them 100% when sailing downwind in a race. Upwind you can use them to see shifts, but you should rely on sail tells for correct steering. Kind steer rough with the vane and fine tune to the tell tails. |
