Post subject:  Getaway Sail Needed

Well, I think with some help my broken mast problem is solved, however, now I have to find a sail. I found an aftermarket company that sells new getaway sails for about $800.00 , Does anyone know if they've found cheaper or even better a good used getaway sail? I didn't think 800.00 was too bad, what do you think? still would rather go cheaper and get a good used one.

What is the name of the company that makes one? Do they have a web site?

i got a Jib for my Getaway from them, seems to be good quality and the fit was an exact match. The Dacron feels slightly thinner than the stock Jib, however it also feel "harder" and crisper. That might be because of my poor memory from when the original Jib was new though. Anyway, I'm happy with my Jib from FX Sails... They are from "Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464"

It's probably a lighter weight (thinner) Dacron than stock.

Avoid cat sails in light dacron.... They don't hold up to the load over time - I get this information from our sail loft manager who's been building sails for 10+ years.

Go for a minimum of 5 oz dacron. We've got an 18sx main in work using Bainbridge 6.2 oz. It should be pretty bullet proof.
