I sail in Santa Cruz, and I feel a little alone with my Getaway in the middle of Hobie 16 and 18. Who else has a Getaway in the SF Bay Area, and where are you sailing ? |

Hey, I live in Fremont and am on the list to store my boat mast up in Redwood City. My sailing has been limited due to health, but I'm back and looking forward to geting her out a lot this spring. |

Do you sail in Redwood city harbor ? or do you go out in the bay ? There is a 1 mile channel from the ramp to the bay. |

Our boat is on a small lake in Lake County, where we can easily sail quickly. Clear Lake itself is also a fine venue, witnessed by the Konocti Cup regatta the last w/e of April. Division 3 has some events t/o NorCal and we intend to sail in Bodega Bay this summer. |

I sailed in the channel. The tides and wind have not cooperated with sailing in the bay yet. The wind has been dead on my bows, and let's face it, it's a fun boat that points like a pig. It took over an hour just to make it out too the bay. Still, it is a lot of fun and I'm sure it will get better. The wind is suppose to let you reach out , but not the two days I have sailed there. |

On the day I was there, most Hobies had been dropped off on the bay side, and wheeled across the sand for a beach launch. I guess they already knew what you have learned about the difficulty in sailing from the channel into the bay. Have you used beach wheels for your Getaway? If so, what brand would you recommend? |

Have you used beach wheels for your Getaway? If so, what brand would you recommend? Cat Trax work OK for me, but the trick is to center them for perfect balance and to secure then with tie down strap. |

I have not used the beach wheels. I really want to keep my boat with the mast up, rudders on and ready to go. I talked with a lot of people there and during the spring, you can reach up and down to the bay. I think a road trip to clear lake would be a blast. I sailed out on Soda Bay in a Lido 14 and had a great time. |
