It's blowing about 10 with gusts 15+. Mostly sailboats out so the water was pretty calm. Nothing more fun that quickly passing mono-hauls with one haul slapping the water!

Problem, I tore a hole in my front tramp. I know many sail without it but my family uses it. A call to my local Hobie retailer, $680!

Are there any discount Hobie parts vendors or is it pretty much MSRP? Any aftermarket manufacturers or used tramps available?

I'd check Craigslist.

Depending on how large an area is damaged, you might also try a sail loft or canvas shop to have it repaired.

I bought an older boat last summer, the PO did not protect the front tramp and my foot went through it. I shopped around and found some alternatives but decided to bite the bullet and get the Hobie tramp... and a tarp to protect it from sun when I am not sailing! I expect it to last long enough that I will be glad I bought the real thing and the price will fade from memory.

Yeah, I know, buy once cry once.

The price of parts are high - but it seems that you get what you pay for.

I bought my Getaway new 6 years ago. Last year I got to pay for living in central Florida and being able to sail almost year round. I had to replace BOTH of my tramps. First my foot went through the main tramp in the middle of a tack (fortunately, is was on a light air day) and, the same day, as I was getting ready to drop the mast my foot began to tear its way through the front tramp.

It would have been cheaper to go on a diet!
