When I took off my trampolines for the Winter, I lost their black twine. What diameter twine should I use? Any other specification that I should know? Should I buy replacement twine from a dealer or any boating store? Thanks Jeff |

Spec call for 3/16" single braid. You want a low stretch line with a slick shell so it easily passes through fittings and can make sharp turns. Catalog says #8004321 LINE 3/16" SGL BRAID-BLACK POLYESTER CORD MD WEAVE Forward tramp lace 15' Main / aft lace 2 x 9' |

Bumping an old thread, how much line is needed for the wing trampolines? May as well do them all at the same time |

With dyneema line so cheap and SO much more useful than polyester, you would be best served to go to Amazon and buy 100 feet of 3 mm for under 50 bucks (breaking strength of 3mm is 1000 pounds and no stretch). Easily brummel spliced, dunno why you would want to use something inferior. |

Thanks for the suggestion, though I can get 100 feet of Hobie 3/16th line for $39, prefer to support them and their vendors when I can so they stick around. Probably will buy 100” or more so I have some extra in the spares box, but would like to know the proper lengths to cut, stringing 60-70 feet of line through the first wing would be a pain |

Hobie made a decent product back in the day. But they gave up the glass boats and now concentrate on cheap plastic with really dated rigging (such as wire shrouds and polyester tramp straps). It is a shame to see a good name like hobie become associated with dated old fashioned stuff, but there is where they are. But you could take the basic boats and create something better by not using their parts. I understand your loyalty, but when was the last time any company rewarded loyalty in this century. Don't know about you, but my cable company or cell phone company only give deals to new customers. Darwin had it right, evolve or die. |

Quote: how much line is needed for the wing trampolines? If you are asking about the covers for the wing seats, they are laced with shock cord. I'm sure what the right length is, but Matt or a Hobie dealer should know. |

Quote: But they gave up the glass boats and now concentrate on cheap plastic with really dated rigging We didn't give up. Still building the Hobie 16. All of these are either class rules boats or highly recreational / resort use. You don't fix what is working and you can't just change a class rules boat. Meanwhile, we lead the industry in kayaks and kayak sailing products Worldwide. |
