Post subject:  Potentially damaged front crossbar on Getaway

I am about to become the proud owner of an early model Getaway. I think it is a 2000 or 2001. The last time it was registered was 2003. It is being given to me because the owner has not used it since then, and it has been sitting outside for 7 years. It looks like there is some damage to the forward crossbar where it attaches to the hull on the outside (see images here). I am hoping that the entire crossbar does not need replacement. Perhaps Matt from Hobie can help identify what needs replacement from the picture. Thanks.Image

After further review, it looks like the damage is to the hull itself. I believe this is where the bracket mounts for the wing seat. I think I may have two options, neither of which is good.

1. replace the hull
2. don't mount the wing seat on that side, and find some way to patch the hole so it doesn't take on water.

Any other suggestions?

If the damage you refer to is the "hole" in the end here... That is a replacable aluminum casting. #37151041 Fwd end cap.

Its use is only for the wings seats and cosmetic.

You would have to disassemble the boat to remove the crossbar and then replace the casting.

Thanks Matt, that is great news! You just saved me a lot of money.

Second question: On a boat that has been sitting out that long, what would you recommend that I replace (halyard, mainsheet, shrouds)?
