Wonder if anyone has tried to paint these hulls? Does polyethelene take paint or will it just peel and chip? Don't bother painting the hulls. The outer layer of plastic is crosslinked. This means that it is not very "sticky" and paint will not work. The material is used specifically because stuff doesn't stick to it and it is a uniform color all the way though the hull so any scratches will be much less noticable than on gelcoat. |

on the topic of color...can anyone tell me how to get those pretty little stickers off to include the adhesive? I've gotten all the stickers off except hobie cat but the residue is left and i'm hesitant to use any chemicals. thanks. |

Try "goo gone" it works on sticker residue. It's a citrus based product and should be fine on polyethelene. I've used it on sails with no ill effects. Test first of course. I seem to have sailed most of the decals off the Getaway and our Hobie 16's. For all that free advertising space I would think Hobie would want those decals to stay on or send some new ones. I tried to order from Murrays but they can't get 'em from Hobie?
