Post subject: | Sail rip/two piece mast |
Quick question - I am using a two piece mast that I assemble everytime that I rig the boat. The sail has a small tear at the top of the sail near the bead/rope that slides up the mast. It goes up fine, but it gets hung up when I bring the sail down. So, two questions: 1. Other than the small rip that gets hung up, the sail is in good shape. Is there a way to repair this? 2. How can I keep it from happening again in the future? Thanks for any information, Kevin |

1. Sail tape, available at West Marine, etc... 2. Check for rough edges in the luff track or sharp corners at the joint, and file/sand them down. Then use McLube Sailkote (also available at West Marine, etc...) in the track and on the sail's bolt rope. |
