Bad storm last night flipped boat. masthead snapped off top of Comptip. is this repairable or do I have to get a new comptip? Pretty clean break about the size of the masthead piece.. thanks for advise..also planning to add a spinnaker which will probably add to stress on masthead..doug |

after ordering a new comptip, i decided might as well try to fixit. cleaned up broken piece and mast top and sanded cleaned with acetone. made up tube to wrap a few layers of glass around and inserted inside mast overlapping broken area 4-5",glued back piece with epoxy and filletting blend and layed up 3 layers of 6oz on outside with epoxy on comptip not sail track..reattached masthead and halyard catch with rivet caps. seems strong enough..keeping new comptip as spare back-up now to try out new spin set-up |
