I am buying a new Getaway on Monday. I am getting a trailer, storage box and boat. Is there anything else I should order up front? Thanks Paul |

PFD's !!! And wear them! Attach signalling whistles to them. Where are you? What type of sailing are you doing? This will affect some items. On the ocean or larger bodies of water, a hand-held waterproof VHF is good. If you are sailing where no one else is likeley to be listening to a VHF, the a waterproof bag for your cell phone. Don't know the Getaway well - but in general a Cat Shackle tool is a must, spare drain plugs, mast bearings, a paddle to maneuver in port can be helpful depecding on where you are sailing - or if the wind dies, beach wheels - if you have to move it around on a big beach, spare shackles, cotter pins, ring dings and pins A Hobie catalog will help you come up with more, as should the dealer or person who is selling you the boat Happy Sailing! |

You do not use mast bearings on the getway. A Hot stick is a big feature. McLube dry coat spray lube for everything. Are you going for wings and trap? Have a blast! |

I'm 50 the boat is great you'll need a hat and sun screen, maybe somthing to drink. Go for it and push it hard. You'll love it. We never sail without prezels. |

Here's some more stuff that you may need: - spare tire and 3rd wheel for the trailer (and maybe a winch and a mast stepper to help you step up the mast) - our Hobie dealer recommended a replacement for the stock tiller extension - the Hot Stick FX3 (made of fibreglass) - righting bucket if planning to sail solo - a waterproof bag (to hold your stuff as it gets wet on a Hobie) - cover |
