Post subject: | On trapeze |
We are picking up our new 2006 Getaway tomorrow. Really looking forward to getting out there this weekend. We opted for the wing seats with Trapeze. Our dealer mentioned that Hobie does not specifically recommend trapezing off of the seats but that it is not a big deal if you have a lighter crew. So at 240lbs I probably will not be attempting it but would my wife who is half my weight be ok to do this? What would be a reasonable weight limit to go on trap off of the wing seats? Cheers, B. |

you have the wire runing from the mast tang down each side of the boat. run the bungi cord under the tramp, up thru the grommet and attach to the trapeze adjuster line(not the end with the dog bone but the bitter end. http://static.hobiecat.com/2010_archive/support/pdfs/H16_Manual.pdf (go to page 13) This is from the H16 manual, basically the same thing, instead of passing the cord under the tramp, above the hull, your simply sliding it thru the grommet on either side |

Yes, you want them rigged outside the wing because you will trap with your feet off the wings. It's a blast. --Doug |

I don't need trap wires as I can't get the thing to fly a hull anyway!!! Had her out in 20km winds this weekend and it was all i could de to just get the windward hull just clear of the water. I was by myself and I weigh about 230lbs. |

I've trapped off the wings in a strong wind with with a 180lb co-pilot sitting on the windward hull. I weight about 250 lbs at the time and it worked fine. --Doug |

I tried to keep the bungees outside of the wings on a h17 and the getaway. Bad idea, wears out the wing cover material real quick. Leave them inside and they are still easy to get to. |
