I have had my new getaway only several weeks and have already broken 3 of the plastic plugs that connect the rudder to the cross-bar, has anyone else seen this on the new rudder setup for the getaway? And why is the toe not adjustable? Can we switch the set up to what the 18 has?

We have been seeing problems with the tendon connectors. We will be introducing a replacement part soon...I hope.

Otherwise you can get the 1956 kit that replaces the tendon connector with a bolt.

The EZ Loc rudder system is designed for the recreational user. Simple to raise and lower. The originals were difficult for many users. You could add a M20 tiller connector kit (19530 to get control of the toe-in adjustment. That would fix the tendon issue too.

Thanks Mat, one question would the upgrade be covered under warranty?

I took delivery of a new Gateway a couple of weeks ago and one of the tendons broke while the dealer was going over the boat w/ me. The broken tendon snapped clean right at the edge of the end piece, made it difficult to remove. At the same time, a customer was calling to request a replacement tendon for his boat.

We need to find out why these are failing. We have used tendons for years without this level of failure.

The new parts may be offered as an inexpensive alternative, but we don't have them here yet.
