Post subject:  Getaway Storage Advices?

I am looking at buying a Getaway next year. I live in Alberta and I am worried about storing it outside (my only option though). I was thinking to order a custom cover or make one out of tarps, but during winter I was thinking to remove the tramps, both. I looked a little at setup, etc but I haven't put one together yet. Is this a realistic plan? What other tips for storing? If I cover it during summer (for UV protection) I would make sure it is not level, so water can drain. Snow wouldn't drain though :). I am planning to buy it with a pull-behind trailer and store the Getaway right on the trailer. The boat would only leave the trailer to hit the water. Is that bad for it?

Thank you!

Eugen

I remove both tramps each year to store the boat for winter (Michigan). It's very easy to do. Make sure you drain any water out of the hulls. My boat sits on the trailer all year. If you have double rollers on the trailer it's not a problem.

Thank you so much! What's the double roller though? I saw that before in other threads, but I don't know what it means.

You can get rollers or cradle pads for your trailer. It is what your hulls will sit on, while on the trailer. I have the cradle pads, 4 flat padded surfaces for the hulls to rest ( 2 pads for each hull). I am no expert, but I think people shy away from a single roller because it could deform the bottom of your hull? I think I read that somewhere, not sure though. Maybe someone can explain that better. Have fun!
