| Post subject: | Spider cracks |
I was looking at 2013 model for sale and noticed 2 small 1/8" wide x 1/2" long cracks in the hull above the aft wing bracket on the starboard side. Should I be concerned? Could I repair this? I was also wondering how much less I should offer for the boat because of the cracks, or should I just look elsewhere. |

That's an odd place for cracks. I would expect stress cracks to emanate from the edges of the crossbar... not above it. Photos? Don't believe I have never seen a hull fail on a Getaway either. |

A 2013 is a very new boat to exhibit such cracks. I think the hulls have warranty for like a year. The warranty likely only applies to the original owner, I'm not sure. If it is a 2013 and you are purchasing from the original owner I would consider having him replace the hulls before you strike the deal. Even if you had to drive to CA and pick up the hulls it would be worth the piece of mind. Otherwise, I would think carefully about buying it. |
