What trailers should I look at to use with a Getaway? Load Rite, Load Master, etc? What make/models are people happy with? Thanks |

I've been happy with the Genesis galvanized trailer that the Hobie dealers in Ohio and Indiana seem to favor. If you search the forum, you'll see that one of the main things to avoid is putting a Getaway up on a trailer that has only a single roller supporting each corner. (which would include most of the older hobie 16 trailers out there) If you get such a trailer, you should convert the supports to either bunks or double rollers. Why? Because the plastic skeg built into the hull has a tendency to deform if supported only by a single roller. The Genesis I bought came set up with bunks about a foot long mounted to pivots on each cross bar. While that might not spread the load as well as a solid bunk running front to back, it does make it easy to launch the boat from shallower ramps. |

I have a 2007 Genesis trailer with double rollers and have had no problems whatsoever. |

i have a galvanized Genesis trailer with the carpeted bunks. Nice trailer, heavy duty. One caution I have is that one of the spring retention bolts came almost all the way out of mine a couple of weeks after I bought it. Since it's held on with a ny-lock nut, I suspect the nut was never put on. I don't know if the dealer or the factory was responsible; I was disappointed in my dealer's response like it was no big deal. Fortunately, someone spotted it before I set off on a 200 mile drive! So while I'm happy with the trailer, I did go over ALL the bolts and check them after that. |
