I have read on the forum about getting rid of water in the Getaway mast, mine seems to have water in comp tip a little of which is running out where it is stepped. Should I try to separate the comp tip or drill out the rivets on the mast head and base of the mast and replace the foam plugs. Please can someone confirm the part number for the foam plugs for the Getaway is it #10060000 as I assume they have deteriorated as water is running out the base of the mast Thanks |

We have been discussing this in the Wave forum as well. We have a bit of an advantage as most people don't seal in the comptip on a Wave so it's a bit more convenient to drill in a drain hole through the top and invert it for a while. As I mentioned there, I'd LOVE it if Hobie could tell us how high up inside the foam goes in the bottom of the mast base so an external drain hole could be made just above the foam. This would solve your issue of having to detach the comptip as well. I'm assuming it's not that simple as it is expanding foam or is just not always a standard length as I never got an answer yet. |
