Post subject:  Getaway leg tension assemblies

Hello,

I could use 2 replacement leg tension assemblies for my Getaway wings.
Before ordering up new ones I figured I would see if anyone had some used ones.

Thanks
Ogre

Well......That was a major pain.

The wing leg screw design is a nightmare to get un-done after several years in saltwater use.
The threaded area is buried deep in the wing casting and of course being of dissimilar metals it was corroded together.

After breaking 3 Philips head impact driver bits and totally buggering the screw head I had to grind the head to fit a standard wrench.
Even with that it took a 3' long cheater bar. Thought I was going to snap that screw many times.

I cannot believe they did not snap!

Personally I would have put SS bolts back in instead of the screws, that way at least you can get them out easier later on. Did you put a little silicone grease on the new ones before you put them in?

I used nickle based anti seize.
I am thinking of replacing them with cap screws.
I figured I might bugger up the screws so I ordered new ones when I ordered the new legs.
Had no idea it would have turned out as bad as it did.

I don't sail in salt water but if I did I would do a lot more maintenance than I do now.
