Hi guys, I lurked in this forum a long time before buying my Getaway last summer. What an amazing boat! Really just the perfect thing for sailing with the wife and two boys.

I'm finally registered and posting in the forum because last summer I drove from the boat ramp to a parking place with the mast up. Unfortunately it struck some tree limbs and chipped a little. I think the material that chipped is some kind of composite cover for the tip of the mast. It is maybe 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch deep and maybe one or two feet lower than where the stays join up with the mast.

Should I be worried about this? Does it need to be repaired before I take it out this spring? How easy is it to repair?

I can post pictures if it helps.

Thanks a lot!

brian

Epoxy the damage. Spray with black paint and you're good to go.

Just fill the gash with marine epoxy? My concern was about the structural integrity of the mast. Will the epoxy add strength?

Thanks!

How did the repair go?
I am faced with a nasty repair job myself. Any tips?
Thanks,
JP
